We recently launched a new Ecommerce site for http://www.justchaps.com and as they have a key age group demographic and identifiable interest (horses/horse owners) we taught them about Facebook advertising.

With 12 trait selections, it’s an ideal place to test multiple marketing messages – what photo, headline and message combination works best for what people, where?

Soon the science starts to work and show how to drive better and better response.

As Facebook is a social not commercial network sometimes it’s better to get people to your Facebook page not website. So you can build social relationships with them, and get the right content to the right people.

Post recipes, get comments, go viral, engage your audience. Coca cola have 35 million likes/fans. The is word of mouth marketing on a huge scale.

We run social media accounts for our clients across multiple platforms. We listen, create, link, share, push for responses and interactions – so everything is shared.

If you haven’t time to do it well, we can in half the time. Call us.

There’s something reassuringly homely about Cadburys. And that’s praise indeed from someone who worked for their multinational competitor, Mars, for many years.

And rather than snowdrops and lambs, when I see creme eggs popping up in every petrol station in the UK its a sign that spring is really just around the corner.

Thankfully Cadburys don’t mess with their creme egg brand – it’s been synonymous with fun, iconic advertising since 1985. They just innovate around it.

So big kudos for their brilliant Olympics themed “Goo Games” marketing and PR including GooTube. Fun, interactive, socially engaging and with a heavy dose of personality that’s also bang on brand. Give it a Goo.

I’ll take half a dozen please.

2012 is all about personal choice and service. Marketeers would do well to pay attention – people want personal service even at a distance. And convenience when shopping.

For years Laithwaites and other wine clubs have embraced all these things in their “recommendations” of cases of wine delivered to their members monthly or quarterly. The rather wonderful Riverford does it for fresh food to your door. Now the underwear industry has stepped in to do the same.

www.meundies.com in the USA allow customers to fill in a quetionnaire about their favourite colours, size and styles of underwear, pay a subscription and receive a pair a month in the post for US $16. You can even get their products in vending machines in Los Angeles. Cycling to the shop in your undies like the models is optional (and just a little weird).

Code d’Urgence provides subscribers (36 Euros a year) with ten stickers featuring a unique QR code that links to their medical history.

Japanese-based Asahi Kasei has previously used RFID technology in portable charms to alert medical personnel to important patient information when dealing with emergencies. Now, using stickers featuring QR codes, Code d’Urgence in France is also on a mission to improve data delivery to those responding to accidents and emergencies.

2012 is predicted to be all about flawsome

Consumers don’t expect brands to be flawless & will embrace them for being “humanly flawed” by demonstrating empathy, generosity, humility, flexibility, maturity, humor, character and humanity.

Increasing disillusionment (disgust?) at the behaviour of big corporate businesses plus the positive influence of online culture is driving a move towards human brands. Forget bland, adopt personality.

Reviews, leaks and easy access to information is making transparancy possible, and with it the exposure of flaws. But turning flaws abnd mistakes from a weakness to a strength can make your brand rise above the competition. Personality and profit are compatible (Zappos, Patagonia, Tom’s, Ben & Jerry’s, Michel et Augustin, Zalando, Virgin, Innocent)

How can you be flawsome?

Become more human

RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS
BRAND BUTLERS
GENERATION G

People want to genuinely connect and trust and noone really believes anything is perfect!

Nearly 85% of consumers worldwide expect companies to become actively involved in promoting individual and collective wellbeing; an increase of 15% from 2010

Only 28% of people think that companies are working hard to solve the big social and environmental challenges

Most people would not care if 70% of brands ceased to exist

Transparency will continue to be king in 2012

Wikileaks has started something that people now want, almost expect.

Prepare for a world in which everything (attitudes, prices, quality, behavior) will be completely accessible socially, online.

Online culture is the culture.

68% of consumers trust reviews more when they see both good and bad scores, while 30% suspect fakery if no negative reviews

Shoppers who go out of their way to read bad reviews convert 67% more than the average consumer

76% of people who complained on Twitter received no response from the brand. But among those who were contacted, 83% liked or loved that the brand responded, and 85% were satisfied with the response

Change is happening so you may as well embrace it and adapt instead of ignoring it.

The dionsaurs are experts on the consequences of not doing so.

PS Flawsome is great for product development, as we keep telling clients. Get people involved EARLY. Introduce beta, not-yet-perfect products and services*, and rely on the crowds for feedback and advice. Its something thats worked brilliantly for the software industry, we cant understand why so few companies are adopting it.

As featured by the BBC today and possibly hitting the UK in a big way this year!

Pinterest started out as a place for individuals to connect with friends and then developed into a place for businesses. We’ve just requested an invitation to join and are “on a waiting list”. Pinterest is on the brink of individual-to-business use, so a great time to join in. Since launching in March 2010 it’s had nearly $7.2 million unique visitors. Its a little American centric at the moment but weren’t most social media start ups that now claim world domination amongst their list of achievements?

So what is it? Its the social networking of visuals. It allows people to “pin” pictures that they like onto their virtual boards.

People not only have the ability to pin things they see onto their Pinterest boards, but they can comment on photos, like photos, and follow certain subjects or certain people. In other words, the site has a definitely social media feel.

And its got quite a lot of benefits for businesses we think…..

Visibility and SEO: Every image includes a link back to the website where it originated. Spread the word, spread the love, spread your reach. This improves brand visibility, web traffic and SEO because the links will count as inbound links.

Photography popularity: People are simply more interested in photos than they are articles – infographics are also extremely successful. So get visual! Brilliant for products.

Interaction: You can build connections and relationships and its not “technical” so your staff can do it, and enjoy iy, without being designers or technical whizz kids.

Target Audience: People choose which topics they would like to follow and which topics interest them so you can get the right eyes looking at you.

All rather lovely and fun so give it a go and join us on there (once we have our invitation of course).

Its not often something in the photographic world goes viral across the internet, but when you present something as stunning and unusual as Seth Casteel’s underwater dog photos, they deserve to be seen by everyone. And indeed over 16000 people have liked his facebook gallery in the last week or so.

Absolutely wonderful – capturing emotions and images that otherwise we would never get to see. Lifestyle pet photography has made our day here!
